SYS Ice Challenge Lillehammer
Girls Weekend – March 2005
I’m not an adrenaline junkie, I don’t like rollercoasters and I don’t even ski, so I’m still not entirely certain why I signed up for a ride on a bobsleigh. However, I’m extremely glad I did as it was one of the most amazing weekends ever.

I’d seen the trip mentioned in a magazine and couldn’t get it out of my head. I somehow persuaded a girlfriend to join me and we arrived in Lillehammer full of anticipation, fear and nervous energy.

The next morning was spent on skidoos which was enormous fun, followed by our first trip to the bob track to get a feel of things to come. As the skeletons and bobs rushed past, our jaws hit the floor at the sheer speed and noise.

After lunch, it was our turn. First a ride in a bob raft from the top of the course which really started the adrenaline following. Then the bobsleigh itself - pulling 5G with the roar of the ice beneath you and your heading slamming on the side of the bob (surprisingly painless!). The sense of exhilaration and pride at the end of the ride was fantastic.

This kind of thing is not just for the guys. We had a brilliant time and my over-riding memory of the weekend is one of non-stop laughter. We were fantastically looked after and I can’t recommend this trip highly enough!
