THE SPORTS
This is a unique chance to spend a 72 hour challenge break learning the basics of bobsleighing and skeleton riding, under the supervision of Tony Wallington OBE an Olympian from 2 Winter Olympic Games.
After a briefing and walking the course with Tony your first experience of the run will be in a ‘bob raft’. You will then have further instruction before your challenge of Bobsleigh and Bob Skeleton.
BOB SKELETON
Following a detailed health and safety and skills brief bob and skeleton riding begins. Skeleton riding involves lying face down on the sled facing forward.
Once you are proficient, it is your turn - you will travel at speeds in excess of 60 mph (the best riders approach 80 mph), with your face just inches above the surface of the ice.
It is amongst the most thrilling of all ‘adrenorphin’ sports. Given the nature of the sport, safety is paramount and as such our instructors are trained to the highest standards.
THE BOBSLEIGH
As if the skeleton experience is not enough – through this exclusive package you will have the opportunity to experience the additional speed and thrill of riding on the guest bob where one of the Lillehammer Olympic Park’s professional drivers will steer you through the 16 curves and 114 metre descent of the 1700 metre Hunderfossen Olympic track.
Beginners in bobsleigh and skeleton can expect to experience an adrenaline rush at the very top end of the scale followed by an equivalent endorphin high - hence ‘adrenorphins.’ Sunday Times Travel gave it a 9/10 white-knuckle rating!
Pulling up to 5G + on the fastest curve 13. Anyone riding the run in a qualifying time will become a member of the 5G club, allowing a return to enjoy Lillehammer’s Olympic bob-run again in the future at discounted prices and exclusive access to the club’s equipment and facilities.
THE SNOW SAFARI
Our Snow safari on skidoo or quads (depending on snow conditions) takes on challenging tracks through the Norwegian mountains to visit a Laavu (Norwegian equivalent to an Indian ‘Tipee’) for a ‘pit stop’ to get warm by an open log fire.
